Six arrested in connection to “gun fight” at Gonzales apartment

GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) – The Gonzales Police Department arrested six suspects in connection to a shooting at an apartment.

The shooting described as a “gun fight” occurred on May 6 at the Magnolia Crossing Apartments as a result of an argument.

Police said 31 rounds were fired during the incident and one individual identified as Kedrick Bassett was shot twice. Bassett was hospitalized, however, none of his wounds were deemed life-threatening.

The shots fired results in damage to multiple vehicles and buildings.

Gonzales police said the following individuals have been arrested in connection to the shooting:

  • Jaiylan Alexander, 21, faces three counts of attempted second-degree homicide and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property.
  • Kedrick Basset, 21, faces three counts of attempted second-degree homicide and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property.
  • Joseph Munson, 20, faces three counts of attempted second-degree homicide, one count of aggravated criminal damage to property and one count of obstruction of justice.
  • Deadraine Carmouche, 23, faces three counts of attempted second-degree homicide, and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property
  • Richard Grady, 31, faces three counts of attempted second-degree homicide and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property
  • Orlando Alexander, 28, faces three counts of attempted second-degree homicide and one count of Aggravated criminal damage to property

All suspects are currently in Ascension Parish Jail.
