BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A “physical altercation” took place at Istrouma High School around lunchtime on Tuesday, November 1.

Six students were involved in a fight that happened sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.

“SRO on duty immediately call for backup and broke up the altercation,” according to the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

Out of an abundance of caution, the high school was put on lockdown.

A search of the high school campus was done and no gun was found, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

A short time later, the lockdown was lifted and classes were allowed to continue.

“At this time, the students involved have been removed from campus and are approved for suspension and may be subjected to further disciplinary action per our policies and procedures,” according to the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.
