Southern can’t overcome five turnovers, lose 34-28 at McNeese

Local News

Southerns’ offense started the 2019 season with some explosion. Quarterback Ladarius Skelton threw two first half touchdowns, a 33-yard pass to Timothy Bedford and a 43-yard pass to Hunter Register.

However, Skelton also loss a fumble that put McNeese in scoring position, and after fumbling the ball again during the Jaguars’ first possession of the third quarter, Head Coach Dawson Odums put backup Glendon “Bubba” McDaniel in his place for the remainder of the game.

“We weren’t in sync, and we’ve been talking about it. We bring him to the sideline, during the game. The ball is swinging. You’ve got to value the football. He’s our starting quarterback, but like I told you guys, Bubba has played really well. Bubba came in, and he moved the ball up and down. I’m proud of him,” Odums says.
