Southern University announces Homecoming Week activities

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – Southern University and A&M College’s homecoming is back and in person.

Students can celebrate homecoming week from Sunday, Oct. 17 to Sunday, Oct. 24 with activities that will be held throughout the week. Homecoming day will be on Saturday, Oct. 23 where the Southern Jaguars will play against Prairie View A&M at A.W. Mumford Stadium at 4 p.m.

A full schedule of Homecoming Week is listed below.

Sunday, Oct. 17

The SU Family Reunion will be held on Mayberry Lawn at 2 p.m. The event is open to SU students, faculty, staff and alumni.

A Comedy and Fashion Show will be performed at the F.G. Clark Activity Center at 6 p.m. The is a public event but tickets are required for entry.

Monday, Oct. 18

Ecumenical Service will be held at F.G. Clark Activity Center at 10 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Wednesday, Oct. 20

Pretty Wednesday and Food Truck Pop Up will be held at Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union Courtyard at noon. This is a free public event that will have food trucks and other vendors with varying prices.

The Miss Southern University Coronation will be held at the F.G. Clark Activity Center at 6 p.m. This is a free public event.

Thursday, Oct. 21

The Jewel Limar Prestage Public Policy, Polling and Research Center Ribbon Cutting ceremony will be held in Higgins Hall at 5 p.m. This is a free public event.

The Homecoming Concert will feature the band Migos at F.G. Clark Activity Center at 6:30 p.m. The event is open to the public but tickets are required for entry.

Friday, Oct. 22

Homecoming Pep Rally and Picnic are scheduled for noon on Mayberry Lawn. The event is free and open to the public.

The SU Alumni Federation Pathway to Excellence Memorial Wall Ribbon Cutting will be at the J.S. Clark Memorial Alumni House at 1 p.m. This is a free public event.

A Greek Show will play at the F.G. Clark Activity Center at 6 p.m. The event is open to the public but tickets are required for entry.

SU College of Business Gala on the Bluff featuring Morris Day and the Time will be at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center at 7:30 p.m. The event is open to the public but tickets are required for entry.

Saturday, Oct. 23

Southern’s Homecoming Parade will begin at 8 a.m. at Scotlandville Community. This is a free public event.

Athletics Day Party begins at 11 a.m. and ends at kickoff. This free public event will be held at A.W Mumford Stadium Lot.

The Southern University vs. Prairie View A&M Homecoming game will be at 4 p.m. The game day color is Columbia Blue. The event is open to the public but tickets are required for entry.


Sunday, Oct. 24

The Campus Clean-up in Partnership with Alumni Federation will begin at 8 a.m. Volunteers are welcome for the campus-wide event.
