WATCH: Southern University is holding commencement in F.G. Clark Activity Center

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – Nearly 450 students receiving their bachelor’s and master’s degrees will graduate from Southern University and A&M College during Fall Commencement activities — in the A.W. Mumford Stadium on Friday, Dec. 10 starting at 10 a.m.— at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.   

Seating is on a first come first serve, beginning at 9 a.m.  

The chief student marshal is Mary K. Smith, is receiving a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Nelson Mandela College of Government and Social Science. The Houma, Louisiana, native is graduating with a 3.965 GPA., according to the news release.

Southern alumnus entrepreneur and philanthropist Irving Matthews will speak at the graduating class.

All participants during the fall graduation ceremony must also follow COVID-19 protocols and wear face-covering or masks, while in all indoor spaces on campus. Outside congregation of large groups will be allowed before or after the commencement ceremony.
