Southern University to close campus early ahead of Hurricane Ida

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- Due to Hurricane Ida, Southern University’s Baton Rouge campuses will close today at 3 p.m. and will remain closed until Aug. 30. Campuses anticipate resuming normal operations on Aug. 31.

Campuses include Southern University and A&M College, Southern University Law Center, and Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center.

The community COVID-19 testing and vaccination site located in the Horace K. Moody Intramural Sports Complex will be closed on Aug. 28 through Aug. 30. Operations are anticipated to resume on Aug. 31.

Preparations have been made for on-campus residential students to shelter in place. However, if students currently residing on campus can return to their homes, they are encouraged to do so. Students should contact their academic instructors directly with any concerns about classes.
