BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Southern University will hold its second annual runway show to bring awareness to bullying and suicide.

A Southern University professor, Rossalyn Thyssen, who has lost her son to suicide wants the Baton Rouge community to be aware of situations of bullying and suicide. “Bullying and suicide are topics that aren’t talked about enough, but target and take the lives of many kids across the nation,” said Thyssen.

Thyssen says her son, Traeh, 13, wished to walk the runway and the fashion show honors him and remembers the lives of other young people.

The runway show will be held in the Smith-Memorial Brown Student Union Ballroom on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. The evening will include over 70 multi-age models from around the community and will be hosted by the captain of the Fabulous Dancing Dolls, Airielle Brooks.

Tickets for the show can be purchased here.
