BATON ROUGE, LA (WVLA/WGMB)-The Southern University Law Center alumni and friends are welcomed to a weekend of reconnecting and networking at the 2020 Alumni and Friends Round-Up taking place April 1-4.
“The Round-Up is our premier event we host every year to raise money to assist our law students with financial and educational resources necessary to excel in both their classroom and career development,” said the Robbin Thomas, director of alumni affairs.
The annual fundraising event that consists of four days of events ranging from symposiums to recognition galas.
The week’s event start with a continuing legal education (CLE) symposium discussing black wealth and entrepreneurship. The symposium will cover the lack of wealth in the African American community and bridging the gap through entrepreneurship. Legal professionals will be available to earn CLE credits.
As alumni continue to become legal changemakers and represent the Law Center proudly, the Distinguished Alumni and Alumni Hall of Fame receptions are held to honor chosen alumni for their outstanding achievements. These events are held on Thursday, April 2 and Saturday, April 4, respectively. Honorees will be released at a later time.
The well-known Chancellor’s Golf Scramble will take place on Friday, April 3 at the Copper Mill Golf Club starting at 8 a.m. Individual players are $150 and teams of four are $600.
Other featured activities include a judicial wall of fame unveiling ceremony, admitted student’s reception, and alumni mixer.
“It’s always great to have our alumni come back home to the Law Center,” said the Law Center chancellor John Pierre. “We’re looking forward to a weekend of recognition, networking and professional development.”
Special group rates for Law Center alumni are available at select hotels around the Baton Rouge metro area. The earliest reservations must be made March 2, 2020 to receive the discounted rate.
