A new farmers market opened up here in the capital city and a first for the state.
Sprout’s Farmers Market employees officially welcomed customers as they kicked off their grand opening.
The 30,00 square foot store is located on Perkins Road and the first development opened in Rouzan Square Avenue.
The first 200 customers were able to received 20 percent off their initial purchase as well as a free reusable bag.
Baton Rouge was chosen out of rest of the state due to a high demand in fresh food. The store will offer locally made products from brands such as Big Easy Bucha, Blue Runner Foods, City Gelato and O’Neill’s Apiary.
Officials say they’re different from other grocers because of what they bring to the table.
“We’re a complete grocery store. We have a big focus on fresh, natural and organic. Everything is offered at everyday prices. We have great ways to save. You don’t have to be wealthy to eat health and we offer that here at Sprouts,” says PR Specialist Kalia Pang.
The store will also donate unsold and edible grocers to Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank through the grocer’s Food Rescue program.
Weekend shoppers are invited to explore new natural and organic products during Taste of Sprouts on Saturday, June 29 when guest favorite and trending items, including a selection of exclusive Sprouts Brand products, will be sampled throughout the store.
