BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – St. George Fire Department will host a blood drive on Friday, June 24.

The fire department will hold the blood drive from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Vitalant Bloodmobile located at 14100 Airline Highway in Baton Rouge. The fire department says that one car crash victim may need up to 100 units of blood.

The Red Cross says that anyone who donates blood should eat iron-rich foods such as meat, fish, or spinach and stay hydrated the day before. After donating, have a snack and drink extra liquids. Donors need to keep the bandage strip on the wound for the next few hours to avoid a skin rash.

Those interested in donating to the St. George Fire Department blood drive can schedule an appointment here.
