ST. HELENA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — St. Helena Parish authorities said Self has been found safe and is in her mother’s care.

The investigation remains ongoing.


ST. HELENA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — The St. Helena Sheriff’s Department seeks help in locating a missing 14-year-old girl.

Authorities said Sherinekia “Niya” Self was discovered missing on Sept. 28 at 6 a.m. Self’s mother told deputies she last saw her daughter at 10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27.

She is five-foot-six, weighs 110 pounds, has brown eyes and black hair, according to authorities. Self was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt, khaki pants, and carrying a pink-striped mesh backpack.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the department’s Juvenile Division and talk to Lt. Richard Woman at 225-222-4413 ext. 241, Sgt. Barbara Dokes at ext. 229, or Juvenile Office Carolyn Taylor at ext. 222. Anyone calling after 4 p.m. should call 225-460-0004.
