Burglary suspect detained at gunpoint by homeowner, another ran into woods before arrest

AMITE, La. (BRPROUD) — Two home burglary suspects were arrested by deputies Wednesday morning around 8 a.m.

The St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office said a homeowner in the 4200 block of Highway 1047 found two burglary suspects, identified as Mikhy Parnell and Larry Joe Myrick, via surveillance cameras. Deputies said the homeowner confronted Myrick at gunpoint and detained him while Parnell ran into a wooded area.

Parnell was captured by law enforcement.

Both suspects were booked into jail and charged with simple burglary, criminal damage and criminal trespassing.
