GREENSBURG, La. (BRPROUD) — Classes resume for students in St. Helena Parish after a deadly shooting happened at St. Helena College and Career Academy on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

In a release from St. Helena School’s Superintendent, Kelli Joseph, school is expected to resume on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the regular start time. A prayer service is scheduled for Tuesday morning. After-school activities are expected to resume as well.

Joseph reassures parents that the campus will have increased security measures and reinforce policies.

The increased security measures include a strong police presence on campus and backpacks will be searched before entering the building. Policies include mandatory clear or mesh book bags, everyone must be in school uniform, cell phones are not allowed, and only 11th and 12th-grade students are allowed to drive a registered vehicle on campus.

Counseling services will also be available for students and teachers as they return to classes.
