ST. JAMES PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Those in need of private property hurricane-related structural demolition and debris removal can apply to a FEMA program.
St. James Parish officials said up to 90% of costs incurred by the parish for the work will be reimbursed by FEMA. The program will help residents remove structures “deemed to be health hazards, not recoverable, or in threat of collapse.”
Parish officials said the program can also help remove loose debris, hazardous limbs and trees, and partially uprooted stumps.
Vacant lots, unimproved properties, unused or unmaintained property areas, and agricultural lands used for crops or livestock will not qualify for the program, according to St. James Parish.
