St. James Parish to have week-long COVID-19 vaccination site

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – St. James Parish will hold a vaccination site at St. James Parish Public Health Unit starting on Monday, Oct. 18 to Friday, Oct. 22 from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Residents will have multiple COVID-19 vaccinations to choose from along with the option for a tetanus shot. The Pfizer vaccine will be offered for ages 12 and older. Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, and tetanus will be offered for ages 18 and up. Both booster shots for Pfizer and Moderna are available for those who are eligible. COVID-19 testing options are also available through PCR and rapid testing.

Shot for 100, the Gov. John Bel Edwards initiative to increase vaccination numbers among college students will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for anyone receiving the first dose.

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be accepted. The center is located at 21080 Health Unit St. in Vacherie, La. This event is free and is hosted by the Louisiana Department of Health. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call (225)-265-2181.
