BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – St. James Parish Schools has announced that schools will remain closed from Wednesday, Sep. 8 until Friday, Sep. 17.

“The initial assessment of District buildings revealed substantial damage to some schools while others suffered less severe damage,” a St. James Parish School System Facebook said. “Our district personnel are working diligently to develop a plan to repair schools so that our students can return to in-person learning.”

“Until power is restored to our facilities, and we’re able to obtain further information regarding damage to the infrastructure of our schools, we’re unable to provide an estimated date for a return to in-person learning,” the post said. “Employees, faculty and staff, please reach out to your building administrator to provide an update of your status and to receive information regarding next steps.”

St. James Parish Schools will continue to update their district website, Facebook page and app.
