Louisiana’s SONIC Drive-In restaurants have partnered with University Medical Center New Orleans and the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force to offer child safety seats and guidance on how to properly put it into your vehicle.
Those who are in need of a car seat are encouraged to apply before the deadline on September 28.
According to organizers, “seats are awarded to eligible recipients on a first-come, first-served basis.”
SONIC employees in Louisiana raised $60,000 to go towards the safety seat program.
The money was raised through the “sales of the 2017 ‘Tot Calendar.'”
“Having a properly installed child safety seat is one of the most important things a parent can do,” says Bridget Gardner, a registered nurse and coordinator of the Community Injury Prevention Program at UMC New Orleans. “When used correctly, child restraints are the biggest factor in protecting children in motor vehicle crashes.”
