BATON ROUGE, La. (BR Proud News) – A new poll commissioned by House Speaker, Clay Schexnayder, shows how people in Louisiana feel about Covid-19.
The survey asked a series of questions related to the pandemic including, “Do you approve or disapprove of the way the state of Louisiana has handled and responded to the COVID-19 pandemic?”
Ayden Arceneaux viewed the results saying, “I thought more people would disapprove” while Molly Mankins said, there were “a lot of really shocking numbers.”
According to the poll conducted by Remington Research Group, 76% of people agree with the Government mandating a mask order while 17% disapproved.
When it comes to how the state responded to the pandemic, 57% approved of the efforts and 26% disapproved.
One of the questions asked participants, do they support a petition to end Governor John Bel Edwards’ restrictions. 61% of the 3,600 people polled said no, they do not support it.
Republican Representative Lance Harris of Alexandria said, because of a personal situation, he can’t support the petition either.
“I have an employee that works for me for 30 years, his wife just died of Covid last night. I cannot with this spike going on and seeing what we see in good conscious try to eliminate the Governor’s order” said Harris.
