Study finds 1 in 6 Louisiana families saw lost income during pandemic

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) — The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children has released its findings on the impacts of COVID-19 on families.

According to the organization’s research, one-third of parents were concerned about their employment.

Almost one in six parents reported another adult in their household lost their job due to the pandemic, according to the organization’s findings.

The Louisiana Policy Institute also said almost half of parents saw their monthly income decrease during the pandemic.

Advocates are urging the state to increase funding for child care assistance and direct any additional COVID-19 investments from the federal level to child care providers.
