The spirit, the music, and the love for Jaguar Nation…
“It means family, unity, love. Everything great about Louisiana is right here in one place,” said Joy Antoine, a sophomore at Southern University at Baton Rouge.
It is Antoine’s first homecoming at Southern University. She just transferred here this year.
“I think my heart has always been to be a Southern Jaguar, and I finally fulfilled that philosophy,” said Antoine.
The same goes for Freshmen Kuquita Dodson.
“It’s family-oriented. It has a lot of school spirit,” Dodson said.
This pep rally is just part of all the festivities happening this weekend.
“Homecoming is such a great time to celebrate in the Jag Nation. We have the parade, the pep rally. We have the gala, which is a very big fundraiser for the university, and it’s just overall a great moment. The energy is so hype on homecoming,” said Lauren Johnson, the editor-in-chief for the Southern Digest.
Those are some things fans are excited about, but the biggest one…
“I’m looking forward to the game,” Dodson said.
The Jags are looking to make this season’s record, so far, 4-2 come Saturday.
“I’m looking forward to winning! That’s what I really want out of homecoming. Other than that, the fun, the atmosphere and just that family feel,” Antoine said.
The homecoming parade kicks off Saturday morning at 8. The game is set for 4:00 P.M.
