DARROW, La. (BRPROUD) – Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) investigation led to the arrest of a suspect connected to two shootings.

Deputies said they responded to a road rage incident on Hwy 22 before 3 p.m. on June 6. Investigation revealed that the victim’s vehicle was shot by a rental vehicle registered in Texas.

In another shooting incident, deputies said they responded to a call on Payton Street in Sorrento. APSO said two females were found unharmed in a trailer visibly struck by bullets.

Through the collection of video surveillance footage from a local business and footage from license plate reader cameras — APSO was able to connect the rental vehicle to both shootings.

The driver of the rental vehicle was identified by deputies as 22-year-old Johnny Vickers of Gonzales.

APSO said a search warrant was executed at Vickers’ residence where deputies found weapons and ammunition matching both crime scenes.

On Wednesday, June 30, Vickers was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where he confessed to the crimes. He faces charges including:

  • Two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder
  • Two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
  • One count of Assault by Drive-By Shooting
