BELLE ROSE, La. (BRPROUD) — Two were arrested on several charges after leading an Assumption Parish detective on a chase Monday.
The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said it was contacted by another law enforcement agency and was asked to be on the lookout for a vehicle connected to a crime. The sheriff’s office said one of its detectives saw the vehicle and attempted to stop it before the driver started leading a chase.
The chase ended after the suspect’s vehicle crashed and four individuals inside fled on foot, according to the sheriff’s office.
Two were taken into custody after they were found in a building. Authorities said a weapon reported stolen in Livingston Parish was recovered.
The two suspects were identified as 19-year-old D’Markus Johnson of Belle Rose and a 17-year-old juvenile. Both face charges of accessory after the fact to aggravated flight from an officer, simple burglary, and resisting an officer. Johnson faces additional charges of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and possession of a stolen firearm.
The sheriff’s office said the juvenile was returned to their parent and Johnson’s bond was set at $10,000.
