BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The 17-year-old accused of killing 11-year-old Michael Fortenberry and holding his family hostage is being held without bond, according to East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore.
The suspect, whose identity is being withheld due to the fact he is a minor, appeared in juvenile court Monday.
The Baton Rouge Police Department said the suspect had issues with a family member and was trying to make them come outside. As he was fleeing, he started shooting at a vehicle where Fortneberry and his family were sitting.
The 17-year-old was booked as an adult and charged with first-degree murder, false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon, illegal discharge of a firearm and four counts of attempted first-degree murder.
