They’re back! CATS is bringing back fare collection

Local News

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Is this another sign that things are returning to “normal?”

If you use CATS, you will have to pay fares again soon.

Starting on Sunday, May 16, riders will have to pay a fare in order to take the bus.

CATSBR has not been collecting fares for over a year.

This waiving of fare collection was done “in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Due to that pandemic, precautions are still being taken on the bus system.

“We take the health and safety of both our operators and the community seriously,” said CATS CEO Bill Deville. “We have waited to resume fare collection until we felt we could safely do so,” he continued.

If you have any questions about what fares will be, go to CATSBR Fares.
