BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – On This Week in Louisiana Politics, the Louisiana House debates if transgender kids should have access to gender-affirming care.

The bill would prohibit doctors from performing “gender transition procedures” such as hormone treatments or puberty-blocking drugs on anyone under 18 seeking treatment to change their assigned sex at birth.

The measure also establishes penalties for health professionals who provide the care and passed 71-24 mainly along party lines, the Associated Press reported.
