Senator John Kennedy has been a frequent critic of Governor John Bel Edwards and even the State Legislature’s efforts to raise revenue through taxes, which ultimately failed Monday afternoon after 15 days of a contentious Special Session. Governor Edwards called it a failure, Senator Kennedy saw it as a victory and congratulated Republican leadership in the House for not passing tax measures that he believes would hurt Louisiana.
Before the call for an end to the Special Session the Senator was a guest on This Week in Louisiana Politics to talk about the Special Session, prison reform in Louisiana, and his recent trip to Puerto Rico to check on the recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria.
