BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Baker Middle School had an increased police presence Thursday due to a threatening letter.

According to Baker Chief of Police Carl Dunn, police were informed of the letter by the Louisiana State Police on Wednesday.

The middle school did have an increased patrol, but Dunn says there is no actual threat.

Dunn says the letter had information that led to believe it was not a credible threat. After a thorough investigation, authorities came to the conclusion that the letter was written as if it was made by a former student who no longer lives in Louisiana.

The school resource officer will be at the middle school on Friday.
