DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (BRPROUD) — Denham Springs High School will have an increased presence of law enforcement on campus on Tuesday after threatening words were discovered in a bathroom stall.

Livingston Parish Schools announced the increased presence in a statement released on Monday. No details or descriptions of the threatening words were released. Read the full statement below:

The Denham Springs High School administration became aware Monday (April 4) at 1:36 p.m. of threatening words that were written in a bathroom at Denham Springs High School.

School officials alerted law enforcement immediately, and in further response, school officials and the Denham Springs Police Department are actively investigating the matter. As a result of the ongoing investigation, no evidence of a credible threat at the school has been confirmed.

However, out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased presence of local law enforcement on the campus tomorrow, and officials will continue to pursue any information that may lead to the person responsible for the bathroom writing.

Denham Springs High School Principal Wes Howard informed parents and employees of the matter and the ongoing investigation on Monday evening.

Livingston Parish Public Schools treats all such occurrences seriously and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to help ensure the safety and well-being of all students, faculty, and community members.
