TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WDSU) — The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two students Wednesday after a handgun was found to be on the campus of Terrebonne High School.

Deputies responded to the school after reports of a student having a weapon.

According to the sheriff, a 16-year-old male student was reported to be in possession of the gun but had taken a transition bus from the school to Louis Miller Terrebonne Career Technical High School.

The student was taken into custody at Louis Miller Terrebonne Career Technical High School.

The sheriff said the 16-year-old had attempted to sell the gun to another student. When he was unsuccessful, he gave the weapon to a second 16-year-old male.

The second 16-year-old was taken into custody and the weapon was recovered, according to the sheriff.

Although the weapon was an exact replica of what police officers carry, further examination revealed that he was in possession of a semiautomatic GLOCK C02 bb gun, according to the news release issued by the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff said both teenagers were transported to the Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Detention Center for the charge of possession of a firearm or dangerous weapon on school property.
