Two local attorneys are suing the city of Baton Rouge for the reimbursement of all money collected in red light camera fines Friday.
This class action lawsuit comes on the heels of the Metro Council’s decision to reject a new contract with the vendor operating photo-enforced traffic lights in Baton Rouge.
Attorneys Joseph McMahon and Anthony Maska have filed the suit on behalf of several plaintiffs who received Notices of Violation of the red light traffic camera ordinance adopted by city leaders in 2007.

According to the litigation, the enforcement of traffic cameras violates the police department’s authority to fine red light runners.
