BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to a fire a little after 2 a.m. on April 3.

“Firefighters arrived on scene to find flames showing through the roof,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Two children were in the home when the fire started but they were able to exit the home without getting hurt.

BRFD says, “something was thrown through the window and the occupants then noticed a large fire in the house.”

It took firefighters 20 minutes to put the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

The home sustained $90,000 in damages.

“Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the neighboring homes,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Fire investigators determined that arson was the cause of the blaze.

EMS, BRPD and the Red Cross provided assistance at the scene.
