BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The St. George Fire Department was called to the scene of an overnight blaze at 2028 Fountain Ave.

Firefighters arrived a little before 3 a.m. and found “the house was fully involved.”

Five people were in the home when the fire occurred and all were able to get out before first responders arrived on scene.

SGFD says, “two minor children were treated on scene and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.”

It took firefighters a little over fifteen minutes to extinguish the fire.

According to the St. George Fire Department, “the family dog has not been seen so it is uncertain whether it escaped.”

Fire investigators are still working to determine what started the fire although there is a belief that it was accidental.

The Red Cross was called to help the displaced family.
