BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A Baton Rouge Police Department patrol unit was involved in a crash on Thursday night.

BRPD said the crash “involved a 2011 Dodge Charger (Marked Police Unit) and a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado.”

The crash took place at approximately 10:15 p.m. in the 8500 block of Greenwell Springs Rd.

Prior to the crash, the BRPD officer received an emergency call.

That is what the officer was on their way to when the crash took place.

The police unit had its sirens and lights on “when the Silverado attempted to make a left turn onto Greenwell Springs Rd from a parking lot and proceeded to cross the roadway,” according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

The police unit then collided with the Chevrolet Silverado leaving both drivers with injuries.

The injuries sustained by the drivers are not considered serious and both were taken to a hospital.

The investigation into this crash remains ongoing.
