BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to the scene of an arson fire around 3:45 a.m. on Monday, May 3.

The scene of the fire was 620 Eddie Robinson Sr Dr.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, “firefighters arrived on scene to find the vacant duplex fully engulfed in flames and the neighboring vacant home starting to burn.”

Firefighters immediately went to work putting the fire out with seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

BRFD says, “they were able to extinguish the duplex and keep the fire from causing further damage to the neighboring home.”

The vacant home sustained $30,000 in damages and is considered a total loss.

In the process of fighting the fire, “firefighters were able to save two kittens that were in the vacant home.”

The kittens are now in the possession of the neighbor.

EMS and BRPD assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
