BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Southdowns Pre-K Center and McKinely Middle School will transition to remote learning starting Wednesday, Jan. 12.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) said students at these two schools will return to in-person learning on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

EBRPSS said Magnolia Woods Elementary School students and staff returned to campus on Tuesday after switching to virtual learning on Jan. 6.

“Our thoughts are with the families impacted by the virus. We have the staff’s and students’ health and safety on our minds during these times. We are not taking these decisions lightly as we prioritize the health of everyone in the parish. Please, we ask everyone to do their part in reducing the spread of COVID-19,” stated School Superintendent Sito Narcisse, Ed. D.

On Monday, EBRPSS announced four schools transitioning to virtual learning in response to several positive COVID-19 cases. Those schools included Audubon Elementary School, Bernard Terrace Elementary School, LaSalle Elementary School and Dufrocq Elementary School.
