UPDATE: Apparent murder/suicide claims two lives on Bunker Hill Dr.

UPDATE: (4:48 p.m.)

Baton Rouge detectives are now investigating this shooting as an apparent murder/suicide.

According to BRPD, investigators responded to what they believe to be a “domestic altercation” around 9:48 a.m. Monday in the 2400 block of Bunker Hill Drive. 

During a quarrel between 27-year-old Gabrielle Bessix and 25-year-old Broderick Edwards, Bessix called a friend to her house.

This friend has only been identified as a 27-year-old friend.

Once the friend arrived, Edwards chased Bessix from a home on 2423 Bunker Hill Drive before shooting her.

Edwards then began firing shots at the friend, who managed to escape and turned the gun on himself.

Both Edwards and Bessix died at the scene and the friend is currently being treated for her gunshot wounds at a local hospital.

Three people were shot on Monday morning on Bunker Hill Dr.  

The Baton Rouge Police Department said a man and a woman died as a result of the injuries sustained in the shooting.  

Another woman was shot and transported to a hospital and BRPD said at this time “no one is in custody.”
