BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Along the Mississippi River inside the USS Kidd, there’s history along the walls and now, another story is being told.
Kyle Perrilloux owns “STMPD Legacy“, a clothing line that takes you on a journey through history.
“It’s designed to push Black history, to kind of tell some of the untold stories and do it in a nice creative way” said Perrilloux.
The new apparel takes you back to the Tuskegee Airmen, the 761st Tank Battalion and Waves, ‘Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Services.’
“There’s a lot that I’m finding out that’s new and I know when I’m talking to certain people about these stories it’s even new to them so, the fact that I can get in there and share knowledge and basically teach history in a nice creative way opens up a door” said Perrilloux.
USS Kidd’s Executive Director, Rosehn Gipe, said they’re honored to carry a brand that means so much to the museum, this city and state.
“Museums are really a lot about education. We have a lot of artifacts that we use, but this was a great opportunity to do it in a different way and there’s a lot of history here and a lot of Louisiana history in these designs as well” said Gipe.
Perrilloux said, his brand and the shirts are more than clothing items and they tell a story, one that many would be proud of.
“I want it to be something new to them. I want it to be able to inform them of something they may not have known in a way that they can share it at the same time” said Perrilloux.
