CENTRAL, La. (BRPROUD) – A vehicle ended up submerged in a pond around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday. According to the Central Police Department, it was on Lovett Road between Sullivan Road and Magnolia Square Drive.
Central PD said the driver suffered from a possible medical condition causing her to leave the roadway. A good Samaritan who witnessed the accident stopped in an attempt to render aid, and her vehicle was struck by another vehicle. That vehicle fled the scene.

The driver and passenger of the car in the pond were able to get out of the car and swim to safety. The EBRSO Dive Team decided, for the safety of the divers, to wait until Thursday morning to remove the vehicle.
It was sitting on top of the water fountain in the pond, according to the Central Police Department. Divers started around 7:30 a.m. and were able to retrieve the SUV.

Central Fire Department and EMS assisted the Central Police Department at the scene.
