BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A demolition project for Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University’s (FranU) St. Francis Hall began on Tuesday, Aug. 17.

The project received funding from Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center to construct a 75,000 square foot, three-story building. The new building will serve academic purposes for undergraduate and graduate students.

The construction of St. Francis Hall marks the first of a series of projects for the campus. The continuing growth of the physical campus is seen as a necessity by the university as Louisiana’s healthcare industry expands.

St. Francis Hall will house simulation suites for hands-on learning and high-tech labs.

The project’s budget is $28 million.
