Video showing dark waves of trash and plastic look more like the aftermath of a tsunami than the normally pristine beaches in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The video, obtained by NBC News, shows people picking up the trash and piling mounds of full garbage bags on the beach to be taken away.
According to Telemundo, the massive piles of trash were churned up on the coastline by Hurricane John.
The news station said one of the hardest hit beaches was the popular Playa El Medano, a part of the coast lined with hotels.
