BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge (CCDBR) is searching for more volunteers and donors to help over 200 families this Christmas.

The organization says it matches donor families, businesses, and organizations with families in need for Community Christmas.

“The need this year is greater than ever,” said Catherine Weidert, Catholic Charities communications coordinator. “We’ve enrolled more families this year than we ever have – over 600.”

The deadline for the holiday donation program has been extended to Friday, Dec. 9.

“With the combination of events that have happened over the past few years (COVID, spring 2021 floods, Hurricane Ida, the Afghanistan refugee crisis, the war in Ukraine to name a few), there are more people than ever showing up at our doorstep in crisis, needing help,” said Weidert.
