WALKER, La. (BRPROUD) — The Walker Police Department will be performing a sobriety checkpoint within the city limits on Saturday, Aug. 27. The checkpoint will be in effect from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

“This DWI checkpoint is being held in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Louisiana Highway Safety Commission ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ Program,” said Walker Police Chief David Addison.

The program for the 2022 Labor Day period runs from Friday, Aug. 19 to Monday, Sept. 5. During the program period, and in addition to this announced checkpoint, the Walker Police Department will be conducting enhanced sobriety enforcement activities, including extra patrols to identify and apprehend impaired motorists.

As the Labor Day period approaches, the Walker Police Department urges everyone to drive safely and responsibly.
