WATCH: Entergy gives Tuesday morning update on power restoration efforts across Baton Rouge metro

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Power restoration efforts are underway across south Louisiana after Hurricane Ida ripped through the state Sunday. As of early Tuesday morning, just over 100,000 Entergy customers in East Baton Rouge Parish were without power due to the storm. That number is down from close to 140,000, which is the number of outages reported during the height of the storm according to Entergy spokesman David Freese.

Entergy is asking customers to be patient as the storm team of more than 20,000 cases the damage and restores power.

They also ask that you be cautious when cleaning up debris around your homes.

Power lines may have come down during the storm, and the lines could be hidden below piles of debris or in water.

So avoid touching debris near power lines or standing in any water.
