Bishop Michael Duca ordains six local men to Diaconate

BATON ROUGE (BRPROUD) Bishop Michael G. Duca will ordain six men to the diaconate, or office of the deacon, on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph Cathedral downtown. The liturgy will be livestreamed on the diocese’s TV station and social media.

The six men being ordained Saturday are commonly called “permanent deacons” because they do not anticipate ordination to the priesthood.

The six men to be ordained:

  • Glenn Farnet is assigned to St George Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, La. 
  • Glenn Hymel is assigned to the Vacherie tri-parish. 
  • Eulis Simien is assigned to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, La.  
  • Paul Soileau is assigned to St Thomas More Catholi Church in Baton Rouge, La.
  • Robert Templet is assigned to St Anne’s Catholic Church in Sorrento,La. 
  • Michael Parker is assigned to Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St Amant, La.
