PORT ALLEN, La. (BRPROUD) — A man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Pleasant Rushing, 58, of Torbert was on a motorcycle when the deadly crash took place before 6:30 p.m. on LA 413. The Louisiana State Police responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.

Before the crash, LSP said Rushing was traveling north on LA 413 while a 2023 Hyundai Palisade was heading south on the same road. “As the Hyundai attempted to make a left turn into a private drive, the motorcycle struck the passenger rear side,” according to investigators.

Rushing was thrown off his motorcycle onto LA 413 before getting hit by a vehicle, LSP said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators noted he did not have a DOT-approved helmet on.

The drivers in the other two vehicles involved in this crash were wearing seat belts and were not hurt in this deadly crash. LSP said toxicology samples were taken from all drivers.

LSP said an investigation is ongoing and any charges will be forwarded to the West Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney’s Office.
