ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Saint Restaurant and Bar, a five-star dining experience in St. Francisville, has landed on OpenTable’s Top 100 Restaurants for 2023 for the second time in the handful of years it has been open.
OpenTable uses verified diner reviews and dining metrics such as diner ratings, percentage of reservations made in advance and five-star reviews to make its list. In Louisiana, only two places made the list.
The Saint is a part of the St. Francisville Inn, a bed and breakfast. Jim Johnston and Brandon Branch, the owners, renovated the property and re-opened The Inn in 2019.
The restaurant is located on the first floor of the main house at The Inn and only seats up to 70 people, General Manager Charles Rodrigue said.
“We’ve got an impeccable service staff. The food quality is second to none. The culinary team is on point. It’s just a very unique and rare setting because you’re sitting at a bar, you’re sitting in a restaurant, but it’s still a home,” Rodrigue said.
Chef Michael Anthony Dardenne, a Louisiana native, is the mastermind behind The Saint’s delicious food. Although the menu is limited, Rodrigue said they serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch on Sundays.
“Our chef’s crab cakes are famous,” Rodrigue said. “Everything is house-made, you know chef makes all of these salad dressings. The desserts are all made in-house so he’s very, very talented and resourceful.”
The menu is a la carte and changes seasonally, Rodrigue said. Some menu items include crab and brie bisque, cast iron filet mignon, blueberry bread pudding and cranberry white chocolate bread pudding. Right now, salmon and cobia are on the menu.
“We’re known for our Cajun French Martini,” Rodrigue said. “We sell about, I kid you not, about 20,000 of those a year. They’re very, very sneaky.”
There are three dining areas: The Main Dining Room, The Sun Room and The Breakfast Room. The Inn has 11 luxury guest rooms and Rodrigue said a spa will be opening in December.
Reservations are highly recommended, but walk-ins are accepted. Make your reservation here.
