BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The time has come to vote for your West Feliciana Parish President. Meet the candidates, Kenneth Havard and Chuck Spillman.
Havard said his focus is quality of life.
“We’re spending lots of money putting a new water well I guess in underserved communities. It should’ve been done years and years ago,” Havard said.
Spillman said his focus is to meet the needs of the people.
“I just want everybody to feel like they are a part of West Feliciana Parish. Right now. That’s not happening. But I would like to see better infrastructure and keep the tourism,” Spillman said.
Havard’s been parish president since 2018. He said he wants to provide better infrastructure to the tourist area.
“Our issues are infrastructure, and we focus on infrastructure and quality of life issues because that’s what people care about in this campaign is quality of life,” Havard said.
Spillman said he has no political experience, but he’s dedicated to learning throughout the process.
“That’s stuff that I’ll have to learn through the process. Like I say I’m not a politician, don’t want to be. I want to be a people person,” Spillman said.
One final pitch to voters– each candidate says they are the man for the job.
“I’m very honest. I don’t want to tell somebody something and then can’t do it. But that part there we are going to do it. We going to make everybody feel wanted,” Spillman said.
“We got 46 bridges in this parish. 26 of them, we have replaced. While we had state DOTD programs called the off-system bridge program,” Havard said.
