ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) — The West Feliciana community is grieving the loss of a senior from West Feliciana High School.

On Monday evening, Nicholas David was killed in a head-on collision after the vehicle he was driving hit a gravel truck on Bains Road, according to the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office.

WFPSO also said Brayden McEachern, 18, of St. Francisville, who graduated last year from WFHS was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash and was airlifted to a hospital in Baton Rouge. The extent of his injuries is not known at this moment.

Superintendent Hollis Milton describes David as a person who was fun and a person full of positive energy.

“I smile a bit when I think of Nick because he was such a neat kid,” he said. “He loved welding and he was working on his international certification for that, and he was extremely proud of that.”

Since the accident happened, he says the parish has been uniting and pouring out with love.

“This is a very small town, very tight knit,” Milton said. “Very grateful for our community. We’ve had so much outreach, outpouring to the school and I know to the families, to me personally. And that just lifts everyone up in a very challenging time.”

Milton said that students and staff are also receiving counseling services if it’s needed.
