WEST FELICIANA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — The West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning to residents about two scams circulating.

The first scam identified by the sheriff’s office is described as a phone call from a person claiming to be a federal agent and attempting to force the victim to give their personal information such as social security numbers and banking information. The scammer goes as far as telling victims how to send money to avoid arrest, according to WFPSO.

WFPSO says another scam in the parish includes a scammer telling a victim that they are from the sheriff’s office and there is a warrant for their arrest before demanding personal information or money from the victim.

The sheriff’s office says they will never demand money over the phone and tells residents to hang up the phone if anyone they don’t know is trying to get personal information.
