BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – East Baton Rouge Parish residents can drop off their household hazardous materials to be collected between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 18.
The event will be at LSU’s Touchdown Village Parking Lot. Residents should stay in their cars while workers collect the materials. Only residents in East Baton Rouge Parish can take part and need to bring valid IDs.
“Our semi-annual Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day provides our residents the opportunity to safely and properly dispose of waste that poses a threat to our community’s health, safety, and environment,” said Mayor Broome. “I encourage our residents to learn about household hazardous materials, how to identify them in their homes, and how to properly dispose of them. Every resident of East Baton Rouge Parish plays a crucial role in protecting our environment.”
Acceptable include plastic, junk mail, clear drink bottles and aluminum foil. The full list of accepted items will be posted here.
Residents can also drop off certain items at specific locations to be recycled. This waste collection is offered all year. Click here to find where year-round drop-off locations are.
